The town of the future is an interesting subject as the world gears up to massive economic, social and environmental changes in response to climate change. The worldís construction industry is beginning the long process of converting their knowledge, their business practices and their building practices to cope with climate change. Climate change, as most people now know, is a great threat to the worldís structures and the people that live in them. There are plans to create flood proofing and management systems such as using natural flood plains, to tighten up regulations and practices to make building materials more sustainable and to insulate more buildings and make them more energy efficient. However, there are many threats besides climate change that can have an equal or greater destructive impact than climate change.

In 1995 I set out to find solutions to every conceivable disaster we might face. I made a list and designed a building to cope with these possible future events. This included asteroid strikes, floods, earthquakes, volcanic and tectonic activity and poor air quality, extreme weather and so on. On this site I present the Future Town with these threats in mind, as well as the philosophy of the Future Town.

The brief is to design towns, villages, hotels and houses for managing the impact of disasters. This will include towns (Future Towns), villages (called Perfect Communities), hotels (called The Hotel Safe), and houses (The Safe House).'. Architects are free to submit designs for any of these things based on the Future Towns Theory, which will be marketed and developed by the company. Our aim is to develop properties and ideas as well as to spread the philosophy of the Future Town. Please contact us to be sent an architectual brief.
